Workshop Superintendent

Location: New Plymouth, DIALOG Fitzroy Workshop

Primary Objective: We are seeking an experienced Workshop Superintendent to manage large fabrication projects, ensure a safe working environment, and lead our workshop team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vessel building and heavy fabrication, with a focus on efficiency and cost control.

Key Responsibilities:

• Daily Operations: Oversee weekly rosters, review welding outputs, and ensure continuous improvement in weld throughputs and fit-up times. Manage larger projects with appropriate supervision.
• Leadership and Supervision: Lead by example, uphold company values, and address team member issues in a timely manner. Escalate unresolved concerns as needed.
• Safety Management: Ensure all employees adhere to company HSE policies and procedures, are fit for duty, and use required PPE. Address safety concerns, near misses, and incidents promptly.
• Cost Control and Efficiency: Implement standard practices for fabrication and machining tasks, monitor daily budgets, and minimise waste. Ensure supervisors have the necessary information to perform their tasks effectively.

Skills we are looking for:

• Education and Skills:
  • Essential: Ability to read isometrics, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, trade qualification in boiler making or heavy fabrication.
• Experience:
  • Essential: Previous management/supervisory experience, good knowledge of fabrication and welding techniques, 5+ years of supervisory experience in a workshop environment, vessel and heavy fabrication experience.
