Engineering Project Manager

At DIALOG Fitzroy, we design, build and maintain complex industrial assets across New Zealand and Australia. With over 65 years of experience, we've built a reputation as a trusted partner to clients in energy, petrochemicals, dairy, pharmaceuticals, geothermal, water treatment, and tank terminals.

We are seeking experienced Engineering Project Manager with a minimum of 10 years of project management experience. This is a permanent role, based in the beautiful Taranaki and reports to the Engineering Manager.

We have several major upcoming projects and seek someone to lead these projects with a team of experienced engineers and designers to support. This is a unique opportunity to grow your career and lead large multidiscipline projects from FEED through to execution.

As an Engineering Project Manager, you will use your passion for project delivery, customer focus and great interpersonal skills to effectively manage medium to large sized projects. You will be involved with a variety of industries in our growing organization throughout New Zealand and will need to be able to travel to other locations if needed.

Applicants must be extremely customer-focused with the ability to lead medium to large-sized projects. Competitive remuneration will be offered based on relevant skills and experience. You will also have excellent relationship management skills, be able to lead and drive a team, be commercially savvy, and have strong financial management skills.

The Position

We are looking for a technically competent Engineer with management experience. This is a senior role reporting to the General Manager, Engineering, position responsibility will include:

  • Support, mentor and lead a team of engineers and designers.
  • Business development function to maintain existing client base and to help grow into new industries and clients;
  • Ensure office consistently uses engineering and design standards, systems and processes;
  • Coordinate with other regional offices to share resources and work on larger projects;
  • Manage project deliverables, cost control and time management to ensure engineering deliverables are completed successfully (accurately, on schedule and on budget);
  • Provide design assistance in the identification, selection and procurement of equipment or components;
  • Lead the preparation of quotations / proposals; technical solutions; risk identification & mitigation; costs basis; and implementation approach to ensure ‘fit for purpose' solutions which meets the requirements of the customer specification;
  • Participate in review of design before implementation to ensure quality, consistency, and coordination with all aspects of the installation.

The successful applicant will be:

  • Highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Skilled at business development tasks and not afraid to meet new clients and help secure new work;
  • Broad Engineering knowledge and experience in latest technology and work methods;
  • Engineering Degree in Chemical and Process, Instrument and Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering;
  • Previous experience in a relevant industry - Pharmaceutical, Energy, Food, Dairy or Oil and Gas;
  • Proven problem-solving abilities;
  • Ability to manage a team;
  • Customer focussed to ensure client requirements are delivered.
