Workshop Manager (Mechanical)
DIALOG Fitzroy is looking for a driven, people‑focused emerging leader to step into the Queensland Workshop Manager role. Based in Hemmant, Brisbane - This is an excellent opportunity to lead a team across fabrication, production, logistics, and mechanical work in a hands‑on workshop with a full order book going forward supporting our projects and customers throughout Australia

Our reputation is built on excellence in engineering, construction, fabrication, mechanical trades, industrial coatings, and scaffolding across sectors including energy, petrochemicals, manufacturing, dairy, pharmaceuticals, geothermal, water treatment, and infrastructure.
We're after an energetic person with proven leadership skills who's comfortable using modern systems and streamlining processes while we grow our team and rapidly expand our workshop capacity.
In this role, you'll have a real influence on how the workshop takes shape — from setting up workflow and choosing new equipment to putting practical systems and procedures in place that drive efficient, high-quality fabrication while also prioritising safety.
About the Role:
As the Queensland Workshop Manager, you will oversee the full operation of our workshop, yards, stores, and company assets. Your leadership will ensure safe, efficient, and productive delivery of all workshop activities, including:
- Planning and coordinating fabrication and production
- Managing resources, equipment, and manpower
- Driving quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement
- Supporting mechanical projects and maintenance activities
- Maintaining facilities and operational assets to high standards
You'll also play a key role in operational planning, tendering, and building strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and suppliers.
About You:
Essential
- Strong leadership and supervisory capability
- Experience managing workshop or fabrication operations
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Knowledge of welding and fabrication processes
- Ability to interpret piping isometrics and engineering drawings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- 5+ years' supervisory or management experience in a workshop, fabrication, or mechanical environment
Desirable
- Experience with workshop management or time‑tracking systems
- Familiarity with MS Project
