Mechanical Foreman

Are you an experienced mechanical leader with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and team performance? DIALOG Fitzroy is seeking a skilled Foreman to join our Mechanical Division and lead site maintenance activities and project works across our operations based in Wellington. The role is guaranteed minimum 40 hours per week, with wage from $46.47 to $47.26 per hour depending on contract, plus applicable allowances.
About the Role
Reporting to the Supervisor, Coordinator, Project Manager, or Project Engineer, you will be responsible for leading teams of 5-10 personnel, including Leading Hands and Tradespeople, across maintenance and project works.
As a Foreman, you will coordinate daily site activities, ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, manage productivity targets, and act as a key liaison between DIALOG Fitzroy, clients, and project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead maintenance and project teams to meet safety, quality, and productivity goals.
- Champion HSE standards through toolbox talks, inspections, and risk management.
- Plan, assign, and monitor work to ensure timely delivery.
- Coordinate labour, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Ensure quality workmanship and compliance with site and company standards.
- Complete reports, timesheets, and project documentation.
- Coach, support, and develop team members.
- Ensure equipment is maintained, inspected, and fit for use.
- Build strong relationships with clients and site teams.
About You
What You'll Bring
- Mechanical Trade Certificate and/or relevant industry certificates (preferred).
- Minimum 4 years' experience as a Fitter/Welder in an industrial maintenance, shutdowns, or projects in piping and petrochemical / Oil & Gas, with minimum 2 years' work experience as a Mechanical Lead.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to plan work, manage resources, and meet project deadlines.
- Commitment to health and safety best practices.
- Experience working with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and lead teams in a fast-paced environment.
